Mt Park Blvd SW
Issaquah, WA
This mid -century gem was a fun space to renovate. It's located in a desirable neighborhood close to downtown Issaquah and had a lot of original charm. The biggest challenge was the brick wall. We went back and forth on whether we should take it down or keep it but ultimately decided it added a lot of character and some necessary separation in the small house. We also varied a little in the typical kitchen design and went for an old fashioned family kitchen with the table taking center stage instead of an island. It makes for a very welcoming space to gather and helps the kitchen to feel like an additional living space. A bold wall paper in the kitchen added to the eclectic feel of the house. TV outlets were installed on the brick wall so a TV can be hung on the wall in both the kitchen and living room. We also utilized the old built in barbeque space in the wall as a coffee bar. A modern "she shed" was built in the back yard that overlooks the new fire pit and patio complete with hanging lights to connect the shed to the house.
